Raiden and Kung Lao were standing on the outskirts of Fengjian, a humble farming village where they had spent their entire lives.
"Do you truly believe that if we make the pilgrimage to Lord Liu Kang's temple, I might finally learn the meaning behind the dreams I've been having my entire life?" Raiden asked. He clutched his family's amulet more tightly. "In these dreams, I was a god of thunder, Lord Liu Kang was my faithful champion, and my hair was white as snow."
"Your dream does sound strange, and I'm not sure Lord Liu Kang has the answers you seek, Raiden," Kung Lao admitted. "Still, though. The pilgrimage should be worth it. Every man in Fengjian walks this road at least once a year."
"I know. It's just... you're the only one I can trust to not make fun of me over this dream," Raiden said. "Your kindness is very much appreciated."
"Let's go, Raiden. The sooner we get started, the sooner we can go back home," Kung Lao told Raiden. "I know how quickly you get homesick."
