Chapter 11: On Deaf Ears

"Listen, General Shao. All I'm saying is don't be so quick to blame Liu Kang or Earthrealm for my predicament," Rain argued.

"And yet, who else could it be but that damnable fire god? I'll not let him off the hook so easily! He tried to have you killed!" General Shao yelled, hefting his large axe. "To arms, my men! We cannot allow Earthrealm to continue commiting atrocities against Outworld!"

"Please, listen to-"

"I refuse to become one of that accursed fire god's slaves!"

"If you would just-"

"The time for talking's over, High Mage Rain! Earthrealm and Liu Kang will pay in blood!" General Shao shouted as he left the war room, his son Reiko and the Centaur warrior Motaro following behind him. Rain knew he needed to warn Empress Sindel about both the trap and General Shao being on the warpath.

"I'll inform my mother you seek an audience with her," Kitana told him, having overheard the entire conversation. "Simply tell her what you tried to tell General Shao before he cut you off. We cannot risk a war with Earthrealm or Liu Kang." Kitana then departed from the war room with a crestfallen Rain following behind her. They began walking toward the throne room.
