Chapter 9: Streamer Room

Shang Tsung stood back and admired his newest trap: a room that would bury whoever sat in a seemingly innocent chair in streamers until they drowned in them. Though he was disappointed that Smoke and Rain survived his attempt to murder them, he simply thought of other ways to spark a war between realms. Shang Tsung thought and thought... the time construct and the demon in white looked like good targets for his new trap.

"A thousand curses upon this forsaken room," Ashrah grumbled as colorful party streamers rained down upon her and Geras without pause. She was beginning to regret accepting the invitation to "have a nice chat", as was Geras, who remained calm despite being ankle deep in the streamers.

"This bodes ill for Liu Kang's vision of peace," Geras, who had been relentless in his pursuit of Shang Tsung, remarked. "He cannot simultaneously defend the realms and the Hourglass. We must escape quickly!

"We need to find a way to deal with whatever is raining these streamers down upon us first," Ashrah said, wiping some of the streamers off of her face. "This is one of those times where I wish I remembered my hat."

"What of your kriss? Could it help us?" Geras suggested.

"Datusha was meant for slaying those with wicked hearts, not traps," Ashrah countered. "Sareena is the only one of my sisters who seeks redemption as I do. She is knowledgeable on all manner of death traps."

"I will send the sands of distress to her," Geras said. "Let us pray she can decipher them quickly. I do not know how long my temporal core will hold out, but I will halt the flow of time for these streamers."
